Pictures of the Pronovias Ipanema

I got one thing accomplished!

I just got my "Save the Date" cards in the mail today. They really look good...I felt a bit of excitement to get something on my list accomplished. I haven't been posting this week because I am paralyzed by my inability to find a dress that motivates me to hurry up and buy (sigh).

Well I have exactly one day to decide if I am going to get the Pronovias Ipanema dress or keep looking because they are discountinuing the style. I know that its really bad that I can't decide but in the bigger scheme of things it'll work out and I will have some dress on that day ;-)

Monday Planning Blues

I have two more weeks to go in March before I head off to a much needed break in Cali with my fellow Diva's. Of course, that raised my stress level up a notch because I am still not finished with my March To-Do List. I am looking at both my planners and time is looking tight. Here is what I think I need to get done:

Get Save the date cards out
-Cards have been ordered
-Need to follow up with Mom about her completion of missing addresses.
-Print out shipping labels and send out

Order Dress
-Go to Elmhurst to look at Knock-Off
-Go back to Michael's consignment to take dress of hold and figure out what to buy with my deposit
-Go to Bridal Garden if possible
-Order a dress...why does this have to be so difficult, I have bought plenty of clothes in my lifetime!

Call Shellewah

There is just too much to do in a day, plus I am still trying to learn French and how to Swim. When will I mend my ways and just do less stuff?

Consignment Shop Find

Here is what I found at the Consignment Store. I am not going to anymore stores so I need to hurry up and buy!

This dress is by Romona Keveza at $2200, I like it but not enough to spend that much.

This is another dress that I liked by Demetrios at $395

*Gasp*It's a knock-off y'all!

At Lakshmi's request, I contacted the Ebay seller regarding the dress and she said that it was "designer inspired." I guess that explains the price and why you can get it in any size. But only God knows what the crystal beading looks like in person. I have to give it to her....that's pretty enterprising.

Some of the Semifinalist

I have made a commitment to myself to finish dress shopping this week and I have two stores to go but here are the 3 semifinalist that I have thus far. The first two are from my shopping expedition on Saturday with Mrs. Crooks in West orange NJ.

This is the Ipanema, which was one of the first dresses that I picked out but couldn't find. It costs $1300 and it's raw silk in Ivory.

Since I have never been and will never be as skinny as that girl modelling the dress, here is how it looks like on a real bride about my size.

This is another ball gown by Jasmine, that I would order in light Gold. I love the color but I am not crazy about the extra embroidery coming down the side. The sales person assured me that I can be ordered without it. This dress is $1000 and given my previous posts, it looks like a pretty good deal.

This is a dress that I found on ebay by the same designer that I loved at Kleinfelds. The buy it now on this dress is $550. The problem with this dress is that it takes 30 days to arrive if my size is not in stock. The fit on his dresses and the materials are fabolous...but what if its a fake?

Well fortunately I have a standby dressed picked out...please refere to my previous post for more information :-)

It doesn't get any better than this....

So I was looking on Ebay for dresses and I stumbled upon this beauty:

This is like 4 dresses in 1, I am threatening to wear this dress if I don't find something soon. I can wear a weave ponytail and use gel to smooth out my "baby hair" in the front. I will be looking sharp!

Since I am such a kind and considerate daughter, I went ahead and found a beautiful periwinkle blue dress for my mom:
Is it beautimuss?

I will get something accomplished any day now!

As you all probably know, I am way behind on my to do list. I am currently focusing on getting Save-the-Date cards out as well as finding a dress. Here are my two save the date card finalist, they are awaiting input from Mr. Jones:

I have three more dress stops on my schedule before I decide if I am buying a dress from some store or simply waiting until I find a dress that I like on Ebay. My only issue with the ebay dress is finding a seamstress to adjust and iron the dress. Don't panick, all of the dresses that I am looking at now are under $1500. There was a time that I thought $1500 was an obscene amount of money for a garment...but suddenly it doesn't seem so bad!
Here is the dress at Bridal Elegance that I am hoping to try on:

The wedding dress that got away

So I went to Kleinfeld's today accompanied by Ebony and Thalia. It was a fun shopping experience and nobody was mean to me, yeay! I found a dress that absolutely love and will haunt me for a really long time:
Honestly, this dress doesn't look that great in this picutre and I wouldn't have even thought about trying it on...but oh, it looks amazing on!
Anywho, it doesn't cost a crazy amount of money but just enough to torture me at $5200 + tax +$575 for alterations. I wish the lady would have said $10,000 or $15,000 because I would just shrug it off and kept on moving. But nooooo, she had to give me this amount that can actually fit on my Amex but will be painful to pay off (y'all know how I feel about credit card balances). I could think of a million things to do with 6 grand like get a the photographer at figtree or a dream honeymoon...still it doesn't make it feel any better right now but I will eventually get over it. Damn you wedding industry for putting me through this!!!
The funny thing is that I really didn't care too much about the dress up until that very moment. Like I would have gotten something that I was okay with and that's that. Btw, I did check on E-bay for it and looked to see if I could rent it...no such luck. I am sure I will find something to wear to my wedding and I will just splurge on a great pair of shoes to cheer me up.
